Paper butterflies are die-cut from artwork photographs from the book “The Louve.” This artwork explores a relationship between two popular paintings featured at the Louve Museum. David highlights the two paintings to explore the idea of iconography and race within in the museum setting. This piece was also inspired by the transformative symbolism of butterflies. The optical effect was created by alternating layers of die-cut butterflies and sheets of transparent plexiglass.
