“The Falling Roots” depicts the relationship between nature as represented by the Banyan trees of Coral Gables and humans. Trees are epic in size and humans minuscule. Trees are ancient and humans are seedlings by comparison. The pathway in this image is suggestive of a timeline of the Earth. There are massive trees at both ends of this figurative timeline and only one tiny human, walking and disappearing into a void of light while the trees, the whole environment, continues to exist unperturbed. This piece explores the might of the environment we have shared with trees for a snippet in time and which will continue to grow beyond our species inhabitation of the Earth.
